Report:

In July 2023, I had the privilege of attending the 71st Annual Congress of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA). The conference was held in Dublin, Ireland at the beautiful campus of Trinity College. Researchers from academia and industry came together to 'play science' and share their expertise and passion for pharmacognosy over the course of three days. .

At one of the poster sessions in the historic examination hall at Trinity College, I presented a poster focusing on my PhD work on the anti-proliferative activity of evodiamine, which allowed me to interact with other researchers, get their feedback and exchange ideas with them. One of the highlights of the congress was the diverse range of scientific sessions covering the history, latest advances and research methods in medicinal plant and natural product research. I was particularly interested in the sessions focusing on sustainability.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the conference provided opportunities to engage in conversation, share knowledge, and establish connections with fellow researchers. These interactions during coffee breaks, lunches, and social events, such as the excursion to the Cliffs of Moher, were extremely valuable.

Overall, attending the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA) Congress in Dublin was an enriching experience, and I am grateful to the organisers and the Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (PhaNuSpo) for this opportunity.
