Report

In September, I had the privilege of attending the 13th Congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC in Budapest, Hungary, the largest international congress on pain. Under the theme “Personalised Pain Management: The Future Is Now”, I was able to listen to fascinating and up-to-date talks on the developments in basic, translational, and clinical pain research. The congress provided a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of pain research and was an invaluable opportunity to immerse myself in the latest developments in the field. During an oral presentation, I was able to share my research findings with the pain research community, and to my delight, the talk was honoured with the “Best Oral Presentation” award. The congress was also a great opportunity to network with leading experts and researchers in the field of pain. Engaging in discussions, sharing ideas, and receiving constructive feedback was a valuable experience for me and has contributed immensely to my scientific career. I was invited to be part of the Scientific Programme Committee for the next EFIC Congress in 2025 in Lyon, France, which I gratefully accepted.

In conclusion, the EFIC Congress offered an invaluable platform for scientific exchange and significantly broadened my perspectives. I am very grateful that I was able to attend and would like to thank the Vienna Doctoral School PhaNuSpo at the University of Vienna for providing me with this opportunity through the travel grant.
